Meet the ‘Fashion Expert’ Vogue Chose to Criticize Melania’s Hurricane Outfit

As left-leaning magazines scrambled for fiery takes on First Lady Melania Trump’s Hurricane Harvey outfit, Vogue Magazine had its own critique … from a fashion standpoint.

“Melania Trump’s Hurricane Stilettos and the White House’s Continual Failure to Understand Optics,” the headline from Vogue’s Tuesday spread reads, ridiculing the first lady for her choice of snakeskin stilettos on a rainy day.

Talk about failing optics.“Oh, Melania,” the article begins. “In the words of the late, great Lou Reed, you ‘couldn’t hit it sideways.’”

The fiery article continues by roasting the “message” Melania’s shoes were sending to Hurricane Harvey victims, and finally concludes, “Why, oh why, can’t this administration get anything, even a pair of shoes, right?”

Not to mention, Melania had a second outfit ready on the plane that she changed into before landing in Texas, complete with white tennis shoes.

The optics on this are questionable. And no, I’m not talking about Melania’s shoes. I’m talking about whom (rather, what) the magazine chose to criticize Melania’s shoes.

The fashion trailblazer mag chose none other than seasoned fashion “expert” Lynn Yaeger to do the dirty work, presumably because of her longstanding reputation as a fashion journalist of three decades. Yaeger’s impact in “shaping the global fashion” industry has won her multiple awards and even landed her a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Meet Yaeger:

Yaeger’s criticism of Melania’s shoes has won her endless scrutiny online, as people question why the leading fashion magazine focused on the non-issue at all.

The New York fashion icon flaunts her signature look — a henna-died mini bob, defined pink circles on her cheek, part-painted maroon-colored two-pronged lips, and mismatched chiffon top layers — every day, regardless of whether it is raining outside. Once, in honor of New York Fashion Week, she painted her lips and cheeks a golden yellow.
